Branding
The event’s branding was based off classic arcade motifs. The logotype was set in a customized typeface based off the classic Pac-Man logo. The colors used throughout the branding were based off of 80s holographic vaporwave. Additional design elements included flashing stars, joysticks, pinball bumpers, quarter slots, and arcade prize tickets.
Event Advertising
Following an initial campaign to attract submissions, an awareness campaign was run on all of The Philadelphia Inquirer’s owned media channels. This included print ads, digital ads, and social media posts. The arcade cabinet design carried throughout the full-page print and digital ads. A pinball machine design was utilized for the half and quarter-page print designs.
All traffic from the ads was directed toward the event micro-site, hosted on The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Events page. The micro-site housed a full list of the winners, as well as links to purchase tickets for the event.
Invitation Packet
Invitation packets were sent to all 135 winning companies. Each packet was shipped in a black manila envelopes with a holographic “winner” sticker. Inside each packet were RSVP cards, a personalized art print, a list of all the winners, a score card for “Networking Bingo,” several stickers, and a notebook based on old video game manuals.
